02The club

Who WSKF Perth is for

WSKF Perth is led by Grant Rollinson, Principal Instructor of WSKF Australia. He and his instructors teach Perth students of all ages and abilities, from age four and up, and from complete beginners to black belts.

Grant works with his wife, Sheela Rollinson. Many of his assistant instructors trained under him from the start and now teach as black belts.

Age groups

Which groups run at each venue varies. The club will confirm the right class when you enquire.

03How we teach

How WSKF Perth teaches

We teach our students how to fight, but more importantly how not to fight.

Parents and students come to see that the true value of Shotokan karate is not just the fighting and self-defence, but a strong work ethic, good morals, principles, self-control and respect.

Grant values humility, patience, persistence, determination, understanding and perceptiveness. He teaches children active, attentive listening, and to respect their elders and others in the Japanese way.

That Japanese connection is direct. Grant joined the World Shotokan Karate-do Federation in 1998 to train under its founder and Chief Instructor, Hitoshi Kasuya, who remains an important influence on Grant and his clubs.
