01The federation

From a handful of countries to more than 100

  1. 1990

    Sensei Hitoshi Kasuya forms the World Shotokan Karate-do Federation. Before this, he led the international division of Shotokan Karate International.

  2. Growth

    The federation starts with a handful of member countries. Today it is represented in more than 100.

  3. Standard

    As Chief Instructor, Sensei Kasuya spends a good deal of time each year travelling and teaching in member countries, to keep a consistent and high technical standard throughout the organisation.

02WSKF Australia

A member of one big family

WSKF Japan is like a big family of motivated people from all over the world, who come together to compete, socialise and train.

WSKF Australia is a registered member of WSKF Japan. Our Principal Instructor, Grant Rollinson, joined the federation in 1998 to train under Sensei Kasuya. His rank record lists Hitoshi Kasuya for every dan grade from 3rd Dan in 1999 to 6th Dan in 2019.
