Awareness of others
Train with people, not around them. WSKF students are taught to be aware of other people and their surroundings, in every class.
01In training
Three circles of awareness
Awareness starts with the person in front of you and widens to everyone in the room.
- 01
Your partner
Partner work asks you to move at speed without hurting the person in front of you, and to anticipate what they may want or not want.
- 02
The space around you
Stay aware of your surroundings: where others are training, walking rather than running, and picking up after yourself.
- 03
The club
Be courteous to everyone in the room. WSKF Australia describes itself as a large family that likes to train together.
02As students progress
Aware of others. Open to them.
When children move up to the Juniors classes (8 to 12), there is a greater focus on working with others: listening and focusing, and being open-minded and aware of others and their surroundings.
At every age, students are taught to anticipate what others may want or not want, and to be courteous to them.
