How it works

How onsite training works

No race track, skid pan or specialist venue. We bring the training to you.

  1. Course, drivers and location details filling in an enquiry, one after another
    Step 01

    Tell us about your team

Share your course interest, number of drivers and location using the enquiry form, or call us.

  2. A training quote being prepared: inclusions ticked one by one, then a fixed-price tag added
    Step 02

    Receive your training quote

A written, fixed-price quote for your location that sets out what’s included.

  3. A preparation checklist: the training space and vehicles are confirmed and ticked in turn
    Step 03

    Prepare your workplace

Suitable vehicles and a training space are required. We confirm the details with you before the day.

  4. A connected training day: classroom learning, practical driving on nearby roads with left-side traffic, then review

Our approach

Why Low Risk Driving?

It is not defensive or advanced driving. Instead of car-control drills on a skid pan or race track, it helps experienced drivers understand the role they play in every crash, and choose to drive more cautiously after the course.

Top-down road scene with left-side traffic: a car with its brake lights on keeps a stopping-distance space ahead of it, up to the side-street intersection, and looks ahead to a vehicle waiting to pull out

Space and anticipation

Practise managing space, looking ahead and recognising situations that call for greater caution.

  • Space around the vehicle
  • Looking ahead
  • Anticipating hazards

Thinking behind the wheel

We gently challenge the utility of two common ways of thinking, “It isn’t my fault” and “It’s not going to happen to me”. We help experienced drivers discover how thinking like this can significantly reduce proactive cautious driving behaviour.

Reflect on the habits and assumptions behind everyday driving decisions.

Based on the Low Risk Driving approach in the NSW Roads & Traffic Authority’s Framework for Driver Education (1997).

Questions

Common questions from organisations

Can’t see your question here? Talk to Jeremy directly.

Where can training be delivered?

At your workplace, anywhere in Australia, New Zealand or the Pacific Islands. Our office is in Carrum Downs, Victoria, but there are no training rooms there: every course runs at your site.

How does the fixed-price quote work?

Jeremy prepares a written, fixed-price quote for your location and the agreed programme. It sets out what’s included, such as trainers, course materials, trainer travel and accommodation, and ground transport. Your written quote also confirms GST treatment and any applicable remote-location tariff.

Who are the programmes for?

Experienced professional drivers in organisations. We don’t provide training for learner or provisional (L or P plate) drivers.

What does our organisation need to provide?

A suitable training space, suitable vehicles for practical training, and equipment and catering as agreed. Your written quote confirms the details for your programme. An enquiry doesn’t reserve a date: we’ll discuss availability and confirm the booking in writing.

Is Low Risk Driving an advanced driving course?

No. We don’t run advanced driving courses on a race track. Low Risk Driving focuses on how drivers think and the choices they make, and it runs at your workplace, including across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Is this the same as a defensive driving course?

No. We don’t run defensive driving courses on a skid pan or driving range. Low Risk Driving takes a different approach featuring values clarifications and other motivational factors. Our one-day course is suitable for drivers who have completed defensive or advanced driving courses before.
